Beer is, as they say, the cause of and solution to all of life's little problems. I enjoy beer to a fault, or to the point of connoisseurship, depending on whether you're being nice about it. I homebrew beer, with varied results. The best so far has been a spruce beer- strange but yummy. Click here to see the latest batch of homebrew yummies. This is a great resource for beer. |

I love to play music. Most any style, whichever instrument I pick up at the time. Soon after moving to Boston, I found a sax quartet here that let me play bari. We're currently calling ourselves 'Tower of Chowder,' and we had the great fortune to play a tune with my roommate Rose recently. Projects with my fiddle include The Smalls (a bluegrass style string band, including Aaron Goff, who is the mandolin player in the photo,) and a Sunday brunch gig with the Highland Drifters at the Highland Kitchen. |

Ah, Ultimate. It's about the only way you can get me to run a lot without chasing me with a knife. I just started the Spring with a weekly pickup game in Belmont. A friend told me about it, and the field is conveniently on my way home from work. My first game, however, I was given a wicked shiner by someone I just met. Welcome back to Ultimate, Jess! |

Hiking is a new thing for me. I looked around one day, and said,"gee whiz, there are mountains out here!"
That's something you don't find in Minnesota. I decided to take advantage of it and try to climb some of them. It's a short drive to the White Mountains in New Hampshire, so zipping on up there for a day hike is a great option.
I am woefully out of shape, but have managed to make it to the top of a couple of big hills, and now I've invested in enough gear to guilt myself into doing it some more in the future. Wait until I get crazy enough to do the Long Trail or go ice climbing... yeah right! |
